VOLCANOES PARK
The Basics
HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is open 24 hours a day. Since the eruption of 2018, there are still some areas that are restricted but most of the park is open.
Admission is $30 per vehicle and your receipt is good for 7-days.
The Visitor’s Center is open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily. There are some limitations due to Covid so we suggest checking the website.
LAVA
As of December 2020, the lava lake is back and can be seen glowing in the night sky.
Visitors can view what remains of the lava river in many areas. A visit to the black sand beach at Isaac Hale Beach Park is a great example.

THE ESSENTIAL VOLCANO, HI
We suggest while in the park you take a drive along the Chain of Craters Road to the famous arch that survived all the earthquakes and lava flow during the eruptions. The views on the drive are breathtaking.
TRAILS
A comprehensive list of trails in the area that will take you past steam vents and overlooks.
Our best trails for short walks, family hikes and a few more strenuous trails for the more adventurous.
HILO
Hilo is the closest city and has many more dining and shopping options. Visit the Farmer’s Market for a selection of flowers and fruits. Stop by Rainbow Falls, a majestic waterfall on the north side of Hilo or learn about the night skies at the Imiloa Astronomy Center.
