DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Follow these step by step directions to find us. Note that on Google Maps we are on Rd E, the road name has not been updated by Google. If you put our address in your GPS it will bring you to our location.

From Hilo

Hilo Airport (ITO) is the closest airport and takes about 45 minutes.

Turn left upon leaving Hilo airport onto Highway 11 (Hawaii Belt Road). Follow Highway 11 out of Hilo. After mile marker 26, take the second street on the right (Wright Road/Highway 148). Turn right onto Laukapu Ave and follow down to the end of the road, Laukapu Ave turns left and becomes Kawailehua Rd. The lodge entrance is on the left.

Park anywhere in our private parking area.

From Kailua-Kona

Kona Airport (KOA) is about a 2.5-hour drive from Volcano.

There are two routes to the lodge from Kailua-Kona. Saddle Road is usually the fastest route (less traffic) and takes you via Hilo. It is about a 2-hour drive but can often be raining and foggy with a variety of animals hazards on the road (wild pigs and goats). We suggest the more meandering and scenic route along Hwy 11 through Captain Cook which will take about the same amount of time, but can be longer depending on traffic.

If coming along the southern route take Hwy 11 from Kona to Volcano Village, turn left on Wright Road/Highway 148. Turn right onto Laukapu Ave and follow down to the end of the road, Laukapu Ave turns left and becomes Kawailehua Rd. The lodge entrance is on the left.

Park anywhere in our private parking area.

ANSWERS TO COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How far are you from the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park?
We are conveniently located 2 miles or 5 minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Do we need a car in Volcano?
We highly recommend you rent a car from the airport prior to arrival. It is not difficult to drive in the area, our roads are not that busy. A taxi from the airport can cost more than $100. If you want to really explore the area and be able to get to enjoy the park, hikes, and restaurants you really need a rental car. View our Video on Renting a Car
How far are you from Hilo and Kona International Airports?
We are 45 minutes from Hilo International Airport and 3 hours from Kona International Airport.
Are there taxi's, Uber or other Public Transport?
We are remote, and Volcano is a small town, so to get a taxi or an Uber usually means the driver has to come from Hilo, which means waiting about an hour or more for them to arrive. We can help you with tour guides and other transportation options in the area, just call us prior to your stay.
Are there restaurants within walking distance of the inn?
It is better to drive to the restaurants as the closest one is more than a mile away. Walking is an option in the daytime, but at night the streets are very dark and there are no sidewalks so we do not suggest walking at night.
