Tara’s TV Appearance!

What a morning it was at KHON Channel 2 in Honolulu! I LOVED being on TV as an ambassador for Volcano Village Lodge. If you’d told me that I’d be on TV last year, I wouldn’t have believed you. Despite the 5 automated, giant cameras tracking our every move, it felt like I was simply giving morning new anchor Olena a cooking lesson. I love inspiring people to enjoy a healthy diet and lifestyle. This amazing opportunity to promote the lodge on TV came up quickly and I sprang into action. I prepared for a week – shopping for ingredients, creating recipes, traveling to Honolulu, shopping again, prepping, cooking, blow drying my hair (I never do that!) at 4am and finally the big moment arrived at 6:30am Nov 26th, 2013! FOX’s KHON Channel 2 in Honolulu welcomed me on the air to talk about a healthy Thanksgiving menu and Volcano Village Lodge where I’m their Health & Wellness Expert. The segment was a very quick 3 minutes. As a special holiday gift to you, here is a link to all of the recipes I prepared for the show. We ran out of time, so they didn’t all make their debut on air! The four on-air personalities tried the dishes and raved about them. They were excited to make the recipes at home. During commercial breaks, they dashed over to my table for some taste testing. Jai, who covers morning traffic, helped me carry in my demo table and he immediately spied the Brussels Sprouts which he told me he’s always loved, even as a kid. He tasted them as soon as we got the table in place and exclaimed that they were fantastic. After my segment wrapped, the news anchor Ron, popped over to try out his favorite, the Roasted Root Vegetables. News anchor Olena and Kanoe, who covers weather, tried the Chocolate Pumpkin Mousse on-air and loved it! Here’s what I made: Roasted Garlic Brussels Sprouts
  • Holiday Lentil Loaf
  • Magnificent Mushroom Gravy
  • Roasted Root Vegetables
  • Chocolate Pumpkin Mousse
No need to wait for a special occasion to prepare these recipes. Incorporate them into a meal any day of the week. You’ll be increasing your intake of energizing, nutrient rich plants. While these holiday menu items don’t find their way to the breakfast trays of those who request vegan and vegetarian options at Volcano Village Lodge, the same thought and love went into all of the breakfast items as well. At the lodge you can find a variety of vegan and vegetarian breakfast items including fresh, local fruit, tofu scrambles with local vegetables, baked goods, and many other healthy alternatives. Wishing you and your family a wonderful and healthy holiday season! With health & aloha,
