Another year has come and gone, but not for Kilauea volcano. As a matter of fact, this January marks the 31st year of continually eruption from the East Rift area of Pu’u O’o in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Like many lava junkies, people will start flocking to this month’s After Dark in the Park programs in the national park. Every Tuesday night during the month of January at 7pm, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has USGS presenters talking about current lava updates, past lava eruptions, and the future of Volcano Village and Hawaii Island. This is a must see, especially since the lava is currently very remote and not accessible by foot.
