Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea is often translated literally as “white mountain” because of the snow that covers its summit. But Mauna Kea is a short version of Mauna a Wakea, a name that connects it to the sky father, Wakea.

A mirror image of the Haleakala, experience the rain forest canopies from the tree tops. Perched high in the woods, the Mauna Kea lodge is a custom designed and richly hand crafted octagonal pavilion. It is made of the highest quality, toxic free natural Redwood and White Cedar from the sustainable second growth forests. The open-beam ceilings, Mahogany French doors and large windows bring in the natural light and forest air into this 400-sf pavilion .

The Mauna Kea pavilion is reached through a secluded path in the woods. Sit out on the pavilion’s covered private deck (lanai) in the back, and contemplate the majesty and spirit of the Hawaiian rain forest.

Located nearby are ancient lava rock formations. Inside the Mauna Kea pavilion, you will find all of the comforts of your home. A queen-size Mahogany bed with the high end linens, a sofa (converts into a single bed), a cozy gas fireplace, LCD TV/DVD, CD player, wireless connection, in-room refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave/toaster oven, teak dining table, robes, slippers, private bathroom, and more.
