The weather has been amazing for January. Every morning for the past week or so it has been clear, bright blue sky’s, crisp air, and even Mauna Kea has been gracing us with her presence. When I arrived at work today, the sun’s lighting was just perfect. Today, I noticed the forest in a different light and what I typically see wasn’t there. Today I saw the “other” half of the forest. As I walked along the covered lanai’s, doing my regular morning routine, I saw a beautiful, intricately woven spider web between two ohia trees with the morning light filtering through it. Now, I’m much like the majority of the population who doesn’t care for spiders, but today I was bewildered at such art. I kept walking around Volcano Village Lodge and found new flowers in bloom, damselflies resting on the waters surface of our fish ponds, and of course Gino in a new resting spot under the giant bamboo grove. It’s days like these that are jaw-dropping and inspiring. It’s days like these that will make anyone fall in love with nature. It’s days like these that make Volcano Village Lodge serene, romantic, and magical. I invite everyone who stays with us to take a closer look into the forest, you just may find something unexpected!
